Start with Cloud

Prelay Cloud is the hosted zero-knowledge relay. The sender encrypts to your device's key before the request; the hosted relay routes ciphertext and can never read contents.

How Cloud works

The server, the dashboard, and the databases behind it all run on infrastructure managed by the Prelay team. As a Cloud user you do not get access to this managed infrastructure: there is no shell, no database console, and no server to SSH into. You interact with Prelay through the API, the Android app, and the web dashboard only.

The trade is operations: updates, capacity, and TLS certificates are our job. You never need to trust us with notification contents: envelopes arrive sealed (Mode B) and the server holds no keys, so even the team running the infrastructure cannot read them. The mechanics are in encryption modes.

The managed infrastructure runs on a Hetzner server in Finland, EU.

Managed Prelay instance

Cloud keeps the Prelay instance hosted, updated, maintained, and backed up. You never touch configuration files, certificates, or migrations — the dashboard is the whole surface to manage.
